Project Description

The Veteran’s Memorial Parkway/Southwest Loop Road provides a multilane connection between US-231, SR-99, SR-96 and SR-840.  Wiser was responsible for survey, roadway layout, bridge/structure design, utility coordination, generation of construction bidding documents and contract, and construction inspection. The total corridor length is approximately 7.0 miles, consisting of construction along a new alignment, as well as reconstruction of existing roads.

The Challenges

The project includes both five-lane and four-lane divided roadway sections, curb and gutter, sidewalks, and traffic signal construction.  A total of four bridges were also included in the project as well as several other smaller drainage structures.  The bridges consist of a 210’-0” long, 97’-0“ wide, three-span bridge over Armstrong Branch, a 480’-0” long, 92’-0” wide, four-span bridge over Overall Creek, a 380’-0” long, 81’-0” wide bridge over the West Fork Stones River, and a 56’-11” long, 104’-6” wide, three-span bridge over Puckett Creek.  To support ongoing design services, Wiser performed a full corridor survey to support a 300’ wide topographic DTM and located all utility and drainage features. Wiser also completed a comprehensive property analysis comprised of field surveys for property right-of-way acquisitions and easements. Once final design was completed, Wiser provided layout for all proposed easements and right-of-way. Wiser also provided as-built collections and drawings as construction was completed.
