Middle Tennessee Boulevard is one of the city’s busiest streets, running through the Middle Tennessee State University campus in the heart of Murfreesboro. Wiser Consultants provided a full survey, roadway design and CEI services for the reconstruction and widening beginning at Main Street and extended 0.8 miles to Greenland Drive.

The roadway design expanded the existing two-lane facility to four traffic lanes with additional turn lanes at intersections and dedicated bicycle lanes throughout the project. A new closed drainage system, ITS system, raised irrigated landscaped medians, and ADA/PROWAG compliant sidewalks were also part of the design. New traffic and pedestrian signals were installed at six intersections, as well as stamped asphalt crosswalks with new pedestrian and street lighting.

This project has provided Middle Tennessee State University with an aesthetically pleasing gateway to the university, as well as providing improved safely for both pedestrians and motorists using the route.

Wiser Consultants provided CEI services for the widening of Sam Ridley Parkway (SR-266), from I-24 to Old Nashville Highway in Smyrna, TN.

The 1.28-mile project consisted of adding an additional lane in both the eastbound and westbound directions from east of I-24 to Old Nashville Highway. Portions of the project are curb and gutter with an addition of a raised concrete median. Utility relocation, signal improvements, and curb ramps were also a part of the project.

The objective of this project is to ultimately alleviate traffic congestion through the Town’s busiest corridor. Our aim was to construct the widening of Sam Ridley Parkway while allowing motorist to move through the construction site safely. The traffic control plans were designed to separate the work zone from motorists allowing the construction team to work under safer conditions

Sam Ridley Parkway

Wiser provided survey, roadway design, and bidding services for the widening of Rucker Lane in Murfreesboro. The project begins in a business district at the intersection of SR-96 and Rucker Lane and extends through a densely populated residential area to tie into Veterans Parkway. Currently, there is no direct link between Rucker Lane and Veterans Parkway, so the last section of the project is on new alignment. The project length is approximately 2.5 miles and includes the widening of Rucker Lane from two to three lanes and the addition of a closed drainage system with curb and gutter and ADA/PROWAG compliant sidewalks.
